Detective Randy McAllister has been employed with the Ross Township Police Department since October 2000. Prior to being hired with Ross, Randy has worked as a police officer since 1995 in three other municipal police agencies.
Randy started his career at Ross with an assignment in the patrol division. In January of 2001, the Information Systems Unit was formed where he was appointed as the department’s system administrator. He continues to hold this position today along with his current duties as a detective. Randy left the patrol division in September 2002 to accept an assignment with the detective division. In addition to these duties, he is also assigned to the District Attorney Narcotic Enforcement Team.
Randy holds two degrees in engineering from Penn State University. Prior to his police career, he has worked for major companies as a software programmer and systems administrator. His education and experience in these fields has greatly enhanced his ability to manage the Information Systems Unit and investigate “high-tech” and cyber-crimes as a detective.
As a member of the detective division, he is primarily responsible for general investigations, high-tech and cyber-crime investigations, crime scene photography and crime scene processing. Detective McAllister is in the process of being trained to assist the department with in-house evidence processing, film and photo development.
Throughout his career Randy has attended numerous training classes where he has received certifications in a variety of law enforcement subjects. A few of those subjects include narcotics enforcement, interview and interrogation, written statement analysis, sex assault investigations, undercover operations and special weapons. Randy is also certified as a Field Training Officer and is a certified instructor in less-lethal weapons including blunt impact munitions, advanced tasers, incapacitant sprays and diversionary devices.
